BCDC has hosted a series of Sea Level Rise Workshops over the past three months. These workshops have focused on implementing changes to the Commission’s existing laws, policies and regulations as they relate to rising Bay water, and four priority areas – social equity and environmental justice; fill for habitat projects; mitigation in the face of rising sea levels; and beneficial use of sediment.
On July 20th, BCDC staff will present a report summarizing the outcomes of the workshops and the resultant recommendations. In addition, the staff will present two descriptive notices for potential amendments to the San Francisco Bay Plan – regarding Social Equity and Fill for Habitat Projects. Public comments are welcome as part of the public hearing. Once the public hearing is closed, the Commission may vote to initiate the proposed actions.
