On April 20, Commissioners, Alternates, and the public participated in the seventh workshop of the Rising Sea Level Workshop Series. Workshop seven focused on the BCDC Sea Level Rise Actions, specifically Action 5: “Change existing laws, policies and regulations to more fully consider the local and regional impacts of rising sea levels in permitting and decision-making processes as needed.” This workshop is also an outgrowth of the work done by the Bay Fill Working Group and Policies for a Rising Bay Project. In implementing this action, the Working Group and staff highlighted some of the specific issues that may result in a San Francisco Bay Plan amendment. During a poster session and discussion participants in the workshop learned about policy issues associated with permitting projects that are resilient to rising sea level as well as help us to develop possible visions for the future Bay.
